This is The Reason Why You Are Not Building Muscle
Friday, July 3rd, 2009There are many so called hardgainers out there who find gaining muscle very difficult, if not impossible. They are using methods that doesn't suit their genetic make up that prevents them from gaining muscle.
Step one is to keep away from bodybuilding magazines. These magazines are fll of beefed up bodies bulging with muscles. If you try to follow the workouts that professional bodybuilders do, you will never put on any muscle.
Professional bodybuilders have genetics which makes it easier to gain muscle compared to the rest of us. I'm not saying that they don't have to train hard, but muscle gains do come quicker for them. These guys can train 4-6 times a week because they have a better ability to recover from their training. Recovery time is the most importants aspect for building muscle. Training is a prelude for growing muscle.
If you find it impossible to build muscle on your frame, you need to stop following the methods used by the pro's. You don't have the same recovery abilities or the genetic program of a pro. You need to cut back on your workouts if you are training more than twice a week. You need a different bodybuilding program.
As your abilities to recover from the weightlifting workouts is not as good as the pro's, you will always be in a state of overtraining if you are training 4-6 times a week. This leads to less recovery time which results in not gainiing the muscle that you want.
You may find this hard to swallow but you need to cut back your training to twice a week. I know the principle of the more you do of something the better you get at it. However when it comes to building muscle, the opposite is true. Keep in mind tthat you only grow during rest.
Always make sure that you have 3 days out of the gym after each workout. Spend those 3 days eating well and getting plenty of rest. This way when the time comes for your next workout, you will be fully recovered, and you will be slightly bigger. Although you may not notice this yourself.
You will also need to change the types of workouts that you bare performing. When more muscles are used during training, your body will pull out all the stops to ensure growth. This does not mean more workouts. It means full body workouts. You don't split your body parts for your training. The more muscles that are worked in a single session, the better.
I don't mean doing a hatful of exercises. You should not train anymore than an hour. Make sure that the hour you train is intense. Give it all you've got, after all you will have 3 days to rest. Forget all the little exercises that hit only 1 or 2 muscles. Do the big exercises that hit a multitude of muscles. The bigger the exercise, the more your body will grow. You only need to do a few of the bigger exercises.
You will notice a big difference in your physique in just a few months. Avoid adding extra workouts during the week. If you have been trying to build muscle for years without success, then surely you have to do things differently? Training short, hard, and gettting plenty of recovery time will make gaining muscle a reality.
